Volunteers make a difference. Coast Shelter is supported by dedicated and passionate volunteers from across our community. Their ongoing support enables our services to continue providing meals, practical mentoring for young people, and a range of other essential services.

WHY VOLUNTEER

Becoming a volunteer at Coast Shelter helps others and is a great way to give back to your community.

Coast Shelter offers a range of volunteering opportunities through at our Community Centre and Restaurant, driver mentor program, fundraising and event support. All volunteers must have a current Working with Children Check.

volunteering faq’s

Do I need to be over the age of 18?

In most cases, yes. Coast Shelter does at times partner with schools for volunteering opportunities, and in these cases all young volunteers under the age of 18 are fully supervised. 

Do I need a Working with Children Check and National Police Check to volunteer with Coast Shelter?

Yes, all of Coast Shelter’s staff and volunteers must have a current Working with Children Check. All volunteer positions will require a National Police Check.

Will I be required to provide a reference to volunteer for Coast Shelter?

Yes, we request all volunteer applicants provide a reference as part of the application process. 

Will I need to attend an information and induction session?

Yes, we provide information and induction for all volunteers.
