coast shelter receives $70,000 from lendlease as part of futuresteps initiative

Coast Shelter has been able to deliver another safe dwelling with a $70,000 grant through Lendlease’s FutureSteps program. FutureSteps is a Lendlease shared value initiative, grounded in the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home. The aim of FutureSteps is to empower vulnerable people by partnering with established not-for-profit organisations to boost the availability of quality accommodation and support services and by investing in targeted training and jobs program.

The grant was used to convert a garage area of an existing family violence refuge into a unit that will provide accommodation to women experiencing homelessness resulting from family violence.

To further support Coast Shelter’s work, Lendlease’s Erina Fair Shopping Centre team participated in the Coast Shelter Sleepout – one of the organisations largest fundraising efforts. The Sleepout aims to increase awareness in the business community of the issues surrounding domestic and family violence and homelessness on the Central Coast.

Lendlease’s support has a profound impact on the not-for-profit sector as highlighted by Michael Starr, Chief Executive Officer of Coast Shelter: “Coast Shelter is delighted and thankful to receive such generous financial support from Lendlease to help expand our capacity to provide women and children facing or escaping homelessness due to domestic and family violence with a safe place to call home.”
