Central Coast Homelessness Services: Youth Program

Coast Shelter provides a short term, crisis accommodation service to young people aged 16-24 years who are experiencing, or who are at risk of homelessness across six refuge properties and other transitional properties across the Central Coast.

The Youth Program provides an assertive, brief intervention, case co-ordination model of support with a focus on crisis intervention, stabilisation and assisting the clients to access longer term, safe and affordable housing.

How Coast Shelter changed Luke’s life:

The Youth Program focuses on:

  • Supporting young people in our community who require a specialist accommodation support service through the development of case plans, safety plans and an assertive, brief intervention case co-ordination service.
  • Providing direct and tailored services and support to young people that are trauma informed, family centred and culturally safe with a focus on family restoration where appropriate.
  • Supporting young people to access community and specialist education and employment services through appropriate referrals and warm handovers.
  • Providing practical support to young people in crisis by providing clothing, food and other practical supports.
  • Supporting young people in their attempt to access stable, safe and affordable longer-term accommodation.
