Your legacy can change lives
A gift in your Will helps ensure people experiencing homelessness and domestic and family violence can access support, safety and hope for generations to come.
How to leave a gift to Coast Shelter in your Will
We’re often not able to give as generously during our lives as we might like to. Leaving a gift in your Will is a great way to support the vital work of charities you care about after your other financial considerations have been taken care of. It is a tremendously generous thought to leave a gift to Coast Shelter in your Will. The impact will continue for years to come.
Your gift can be a percentage of your Estate or a specific sum of money or other assets.
Remember: Talk to an expert
It is important to use a solicitor, trustee or estate planner when creating a new Will or amending an existing Will, to ensure things are exactly as you want them and that your Will is valid in your state. Please discuss any decisions with them.
Is it expensive or difficult to include Coast Shelter in your Will?
It is not expensive or difficult to include Coast Shelter in your Will. As outlined above, just a small inclusion in your Will has the capacity to make a world of difference to our clients.
Can I change my existing Will to include Coast Shelter?

Can I look after those closest to me and still include a gift in my Will?
Absolutely. You decide who, what and how much your beneficiaries receive. You can also choose to look after those close to you and bequeath anything that remains to Coast Shelter, through the residual estate option. Speak with your solicitor to make sure the decisions are right for you and your estate.
Is there a minimum amount I can leave to Coast Shelter?
No. We appreciate all levels of support and donations. We do however request you speak to us prior to confirming your will if there’s a specific charitable purpose you wish to include as the instruction in your Will, as opposed to it being directed to be used for general charitable purposes. Through this discussion, we want to ensure our capacity to deliver on any expectations you would like to set, so please get in touch or ask your solicitor to reach out to our Philanthropy Lead.
Important to remember
It is important that the correct name and ABN are specified. Speak to your legal advisor to ensure this is correct and see the following page for some suggestions.
Leaving a gift to Coast Sheter
If you’d like to leave a gift to Coast Shelter, there are four ways to do so. We have included these below. Please consult with your estate planner.
Residual Estate
This is the remainder of your Estate after leaving your beneficiaries their specific gifts and payment of any financial commitments. The wording for this gift would be:
I leave to Coast Shelter LTD, of 346 Mann St, North Gosford, NSW 2250. (ABN: 46 095 999 287)
(… proportion of residue to be completed…) for its general charitable intent purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.
Specific Gift
You could also leave a specific gift, which specifies the exact amount you’d like to donate. It can be money, stocks, shares or property.
I leave to Coast Shelter LTD, of 346 Mann St, North Gosford, NSW 2250. (ABN: 46 095 999 287) (…description of item/amount…) absolutely for the general charitable intent purposes of the said charity and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.
Whole Estate
This comprises your entire Estate and is often left by people without family or other preferred beneficiaries, or those wanting to achieve something very significant with their gift.
Percentage or Fractional
This is a gift expressed as a percentage or fraction of your Estate. Dividing your Estate by a percentage or fraction considers the changing value of your Estate which can occur due to factors such as inflation, property fluctuations and changes to the composition of your Estate over time.
